Greeting
s from Young Dance Academy!
Young Dance Academy first
opened its doors in 1983 by owner and director, Sandra Young. She celebrated 25 successful years in business this
past season!
Young Dance
offers classes in Ballet, Jazz and Tap for ages
6½ to adult, as well as combination classes of Jazz/Ballet for ages 3 – 6
years. Hip Hop and Pom Pon classes are open to students age 8 and older. Our
instructors always recommend and encourage dancers to take ballet as it is the
base for all other forms of dance. Ballet technique will always enhance your
Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Pom Pon experience. Pointe technique classes are
available through teacher recommendation only to our teenage dancers.
Our dance program is
complimented by our facility which incorporates four dance studio rooms.

Dancers from Young Dance have
competed regionally and nationally in an extremely successful competitive
program since 1991. Our competitive dancers are selected from our Technique
Intensive (TI) Program which evolved from our competitive program 7 years
ago. The TI Program is our source for dancers who see dance in their future
as more than a recreational activity. The TI Program provides intensive
instruction in ballet, jazz and tap. Dancers auditioned for the 2008 – 2009
TI Program in May of 2008. They attend dance conventions throughout the
country all season long and continue to win scholarships and national titles
at these conventions. Last season dancers attended Showstopper the
Convention in Wisconsin Dells, New
York City Dance Alliance in several cities across the country and Dance
Excellence 2008 in Los Angeles.

Dancers have performed in the opening
number of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Orange Bowl half-time show
with singer Jon Secada in Miami and a showcase at Broadway Dance Center in
NYC by personal invitation from Frank Hatchett, an internationally
recognized teacher and choreographer who has been instrumental in furthering
dancers’ careers. They have also been invited to proudly represent the
state of Wisconsin at Dance Excellence in Los Angeles since 2000 and
subsequently attended in 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. They participated in
workshop classes, a performance at Disneyland and International Performance
Boards where they received the highest possible ranking in all categories.
Young Dance Academy dancers have also performed at Summerfest at the Marcus Amphitheater in
productions featuring Bob McGrath from Sesame Street. They have appeared
numerous times on the Showstopper American Dance Championships television
show broadcast on CBS all over the country and in their nationally
distributed videos. Young Dance Academy hosted and performed with the
Moscow Ballet in their production of the Great Russian Nutcracker at the
Riverside Theater. Most recently more than 60 of our dancers performed with
the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Bob McGrath in a Kinderconcert series.
We are so very proud!
Dancers from Young Dance have gone on to
perform as well as choreograph at the professional level. Many have
performed on collegiate and professional dance teams for the NFL and NBA.
Many of our dancers are teaching in the dance field and have professional
careers in the entertainment industry. Jenna Young just recently
completed a 2-month tour of Germany and Holland in Spring/Summer 2008 with
The Young Americans and Andre’ Kasten recently performed with Celine Dion’s A New Day at Caesars Palace in Las
Vegas until its closing in December 2007!
Young Dance Academy celebrated its 25th season in
2008! In March, 33 of our dancers traveled to Los Angeles to represent the
state of Wisconsin at Dance Excellence 2008, an international dance
festival held every spring. Dance Excellence is an invitation only
event where one studio per state is selected to attend each year. Young
Dance Academy has represented Wisconsin since 2000. Dancers attended
master classes along with dancers from all over the United States and many
different countries, performed at Disneyland and also participated in the
International Performance Boards where they received the highest possible
ranking for all six of the dance numbers they performed.
