MONTHLY TUITION – March tuition is due by Wednesday, March 7th. Payments are considered late and subject to a $5.00 per week late fee if made after March 7th. Lauren Murphy was our $50 YDA Gift Certificate raffle winner for the month of February. Congratulations, Lauren! Payments must be made by March 7th in order to participate in this month’s drawing for a $50 YDA Gift Certificate.
EASTER VACATION – The studio will be closed for Easter vacation from FRIday, March 30TH – SATURDAY, APRIL 7th. Classes resume MONDAY, April 9th. Remember to mark your calendars now!
PARENT OBSERVATION WEEK REMINDER – Parent Observation Week is NEXT MONTH, Monday, April 16th – Saturday, April 21st. These dates are listed in the studio brochure. Make a note on your calendar if you haven’t already.
HOLIDAY SHOWCASE DVDs – Don’t forget to pick up your DVDs & BluRays at the front desk if you have not already. Late orders may be picked up beginning Monday, March 12th.
JUNE 2018 RECITAL DATES – Below is a reminder of our confirmed June recital dates for 2018. All performances start at 7:00 p.m. in the Greendale High School Auditorium. Please note: There will be 6 shows this year, not 7. There will not be a show on Saturday, June 16th. The recital dates are as follows:
RECITAL SCHEDULE – You will receive a specific recital schedule. You will then know exactly in which of the 6 shows your dancer(s) will be required to perform. The recital schedule will be complete and no changes will be made. For more details, please refer to the schedule when it comes out later this month.

DRESS REHEARSAL DATES – Below is a reminder of our 6 confirmed June dress rehearsal dates for 2018. All dress rehearsals are on stage in the Greendale High School auditorium. The dress rehearsal dates are as follows:
DRESS REHEARSAL SCHEDULE – A specific schedule will be available in April. Rehearsals are in full costume and make-up with proper required hairstyle. These rehearsals take the place of most regular classes in June (there will be regular classes held at the studio on Thursday, May 31st and Saturday, June 2nd), however your dancer’s specific rehearsal day will not be the same day as your dancer’s regular dance class day or days. Again, watch for the rehearsal schedule in April. There are NO tuition fees for June!

RECITAL CONFLICTS – I have been doing my best to work out everyone’s recital conflicts. I have no doubt though that there will be problems. If a school requirement or the like makes it impossible for your dancer to be at a particular performance you are scheduled to attend, you must let your teacher know immediately (as soon as the recital schedule becomes available). Teachers will not re-choreograph a dance to accommodate a missing dancer, as this is too much to expect of the dancers in the class. Instead, the teacher will replace your dancer with a substitute for the performance that your dancer will miss. Therefore, the substitute dancer will need to borrow the missing dancer’s costume for that particular performance. The teacher for each class will be in charge of the costume being loaned. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in this matter, as it will allow students to attend graduations while keeping a recital number running smoothly. Thank you in advance for all of your help.
RECITAL SHOES – Did you order your recital shoes yet? April is a busy time for shoe suppliers. Please have orders placed by the end of March. If you decide to wait we cannot guarantee you will have your shoes for your recital pictures in May. Check the shoe bulletin board in the hallway if you’d like to purchase or sell any used shoes.
RECITAL MUSIC – Everyone should have received recital music CD. If for some reason you did not, please check at the front desk. If you have misplaced your CD, additional CD’s are available at the front desk for $3.00 per replacement CD.
“ALL BOYS" RECITAL DANCE – Our first “All Boys Dance” Rehearsal is scheduled for Saturday, March 24th from 2:30 – 3:30pm at Young Dance Academy. Please let us know in advance if you will not be in attendance.
RECITAL TICKET SALE - NEW DATE THIS YEAR – Recital tickets will go on sale in APRIL this year at a limit of 10 per family during our first week of ticket sales. We use a lottery system for ticket sales, which will be explained later this month. Everyone seated in our audience requires a ticket. Children 3 and under do not need a ticket if seated on the lap of a parent. All seating is reserved and tickets are $15.00 each for all 6 performances. Our ticket lottery sale day is Saturday, APRIL 28th. If you fail to participate in the ticket lottery you will have through Saturday, May 5th to purchase your 10-ticket limit or fewer. On Monday, May 7th any remaining recital tickets will go on sale first come – first serve at 4:30pm at the studio. Watch for more recital ticket purchasing information to come in April.
RECITAL PICTURE DATES – Class and individual pictures of your dancer in full costume are taken here at Young Dance in May. This year pictures will be taken on Sunday, May 20th, Tuesday, May 22nd AND Wednesday, May 23rd. Schedules and picture package information will be available in April.
2018-2019 TECHNIQUE INTENSIVE (TI) PROGRAM AUDITIONS
Auditions for the 2018- 2019 Technique Intensive Program for dancers age 7-18 years will be held
*Age listed below is the dancer’s age as of JANUARY 1st, 2019 (not necessarily their current age)*
Dancers Ages 7-9* – Tuesday, May 29th from 4:30 – 6:00pm
Dancers Ages 10-12* – Thursday, May 31st from 6:30 – 8:00pm
NEW THIS YEAR: Dancers Ages 13 and Older interested in auditioning for the 2018-2019 TI Program must submit an application and video if they were not involved in the 2017-2018 YDA TI Program. Please inquire for details.
Information packets and a specific audition time schedule will be available Monday, March 12th. I am currently revising this season’s TI Program information packet for the 2018-2019 season. Once the information packets are available, please read it over carefully so you are well informed of the requirements prior to the audition.
CONGRATULATIONS – Congratulations to the Technique Intensive Program dancers who competed mid-February at the New York City Dance Alliance Convention/Competition in Chicago, IL! Check out our website for the detailed results! The dancers will be attending the NUVO dance convention in Chicago, IL and the Tribute National Talent Competition in Oswego, IL this month. Good luck, dancers!
SUMMER PROGRAM INFORMATION - A variety of classes will be held over the summer in our 8-week program from June 18th – August 9th, 2018. Summer classes at Young Dance Academy are offered during both daytime and evening hours Monday through Thursday, as well as Saturday mornings. We also offer 2-Day Themed Mini Dance Camps that perfect for dancers ages 3-5. Mini dance camp classes are held Tuesdays & Thursdays throughout the summer from 5:00 – 6:00pm beginning Tuesday, June 19th. Each week is a different themed class. Both of our summer programs schedules will be available and emailed to you on Monday, March 12th.
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND – For those of you making weekend plans in advance, the studio will be closed for Memorial weekend Friday, May 25th– Monday, May 28th.
