All Boys Dance

Each year in our June recitals, we present a dance number featuring the boys of Young Dance.  For all of the boys, it is the highlight of the season and I think for some, the reason they love the shows in June!

It is the time where the boys feel a huge sense of camaraderie and kinship in this predominately female sport.  We want to include every boy enrolled at Young Dance and hope that you are able to fit the rehearsals at the studio and performances at Greendale High School into your busy schedules.  We want the boys to feel included in something special that is just for them!

The theme for this season’s boys’ number is “Pirates”.   There will be lots of action and excitement, ie: sword fighting, which promises to be amazing fun for all!

The classes/rehearsals for the 2018 Boys Dance will be held primarily on Saturdays from 2:30-3:30pm beginning Saturday, March 24th, with a few Sunday rehearsals from 12:00 – 1:00pm thrown in to accommodate for boys’ Saturday sport schedules during spring. There is no charge for these extra classes/rehearsals.

Rehearsals will be held on the following dates/times listed below:

  • Saturday, March 24th from 2:30 – 3:30pm
  • Sunday, March 25th from 12:00 – 1:00pm
  • Saturday, April 14th from 2:30 – 3:30pm
  • Sunday, April 15th from 12:00 – 1:00pm
  • Saturday, April 21st from 2:30 – 3:30pm
  • Saturday, April 28th from 2:30 – 3:30pm
  • Sunday, April 29th from 12:00 – 1:00pm
  • Saturday, May 19th from 2:30 – 3:30pm

Mark your calendars today!

Please note:  We realize that all of the boys won’t be able to attend every rehearsal.  We ask that you try your best to get them to as many as possible so they are confident about their parts in the number.

MOST IMPORTANT – The boys dance “Pirates” will be performed in all 6 of our June recitals! All boys must be at Greendale High School for all of the shows.  This does not mean they need to be there for the entire evening.  Most often the number is scheduled near the beginning or near the end of each show so if your son only has the boys dance that evening, he can leave after he performs or arrive later than the arrival time scheduled for the other dancers.

COSTUMING FOR BOYS DANCE – Parents will be costuming their “Pirates” this year. Feel free to be as creative as possible! If you are ordering a costume, please don’t throw away the packaging as we don’t want a dozen Jack Sparrows or Captain Hooks!

Please bring your costume choices/ideas to the first rehearsal on Saturday, March 24th at 2:30pm.

We hope to see all of the boys on Saturday, March 24th for their first rehearsal at 2:30 p.m.!

IMPORTANT: If your son will not be able to participate in the boys dance, please let me know ASAP!
